Use the script for facts, actions, relationships, and spoken evidence. I recommend ignoring the script's broad “big text” commentary about how the character feels, behaves, or delivers the scene. The director will decide those matters. In the absence of a director telling you otherwise, be your own director and choose the interpretation that best serves the story.

Choose the scene being worked on. The selected scene governs the Composer work across Performance, Script Preparation, Character, Relationships, Beat Map, Rehearsal and Playback.

This section groups the essential story questions, severe carryover, beats, turns, style, and action map that shape the work that follows.
Character
Relationships
Create a separate relationship record for each person, object, institution, place, or group that affects the role.
Beat Map
Create each beat by identifying its key dramatic elements: section, section name, one-sentence purpose, speed, tone or mood, and the specific demand of that section.
Shifts
Aim for at least one clear shift in every scene. Shifts will often occur at a beat change. Track how the starting state becomes the ending state through changes in emotion, relationship, status, thought or power, and intensity.
Performance
Map each dialogue, thought, movement, action, or vocalisation against its beat, source, choice, and technique.
